2018 Men's Health Awards

The winners of the Men’s Health Awards 2018 were announced at the Men’s Health Gathering at Parramatta in November.

The Gathering connected people together who are committed to improving the lives and health of men and boys: n 2018 it combined the 12th National Men’s Health Conference and the  9th National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Male Health Convention.

Many of the speakers placed a strong focus on the social determinants of health and wellbeing and awards were made to groups and individuals who were recognised as having made a significant impact in the field. These were:

Significant Contribution to Improving Men’s Health and Wellbeing by an individual

Winner: Zac Seidler, Man Island 

Highly Commended: Michael Wearing, Maleny Community Men’s House

Significant Contribution to Improving Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Men’s Health and Wellbeing by an individual 

Winner: Rick Welsh, Mount Druitt Shed

Highly Commended: Stuart McMinn, Interrelate Family Services

Significant Contribution to Developing Male-Friendly Services  

Winner: David Helmers, The Australian Men’s Sheds Association 

Significant Contribution to Improving Men’s Health and Wellbeing by a group 

Winner: Menslink 

Significant Contribution to Improving Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Men’s Health and Wellbeing by a group

Winner: Babana Aboriginal Men’s Group 

Significant Contribution to Improving Young Men’s Health and Wellbeing 

Winner: Top Blokes

Highly Commended: Dr Arne Rubinstein, The Rites of Passage Institute 

Lifetime Achievement Award
