I would like to nominate Blake Stewart for the "Significant Response to COVID-19 Health Award". Blake is a young, dynamic, innovative leader in the field of Early Childhood Education. He works full time as a Director of a 50 place non-profit service in NSW, and works managing his team of 20+ staff, supporting their mental, emotional and physical wellbeing throughout the ever changing uncertainties we have been facing during this current climate. However, the thing I would like to highlight is Blake's prompt and empathetic response to the needs of fellow leaders and families within the Early Childhood sector. Blake saw a need and an opportunity, and used this current climate to launch a consulting and mentoring business - "Blake Stewart Excellence". Blake was recently awarded the National Excellence of Teaching Award, and used this as a springboard and a platform to launch support nationally. In response to COVID-19 and the lack of support for leaders, Blake created an online network for leaders in the Community Based Preschool field and had a following of 1500 people within the first 24 hours. Blake has been working tirelessly to provide free consultations, zoom calls, one on one mentoring, group sessions and has been working to provide leaders with current and relevant research to guide them in informing their business decisions. At just 26 years of age, Blake is on the front foot of leadership and guidance in the field of education, and is setting an example, nationally, for young men in leadership - proving that age and gender is not a limitation to effective influence. I truly believe that Blake should be recognised for his efforts and the way that his leadership and innovation has supported the emotional and mental wellbeing of educators and leaders both locally and nationally.
