You Got This Mate by the Rural Adversity Mental Health Program.

In rural areas, suicide rates are approximately 50% higher than our city counter parts. With 3 in every 4 suicides being male, this is a significant issue for our men in the bush. Like many of us, the RAMHP team saw that many men in the bush who weren’t doing well were also not reaching out for help to keep themselves strong and well. In response the RAMHP team worked with rural men to build You Got This Mate. You Got This Mate ( provides men with practical tips and information about how and when to take action when it comes to their mental health. Designed in close consultation with RAMHP’s Rural Men’s Resource Advisory Group, the website is visually appealing to men, easy to navigate and comprises appropriate content, language and tone suitable to a rural male audience. Showcasing videos of men sharing their stories about their own journey and struggles with mental health, You Got This Mate also connects men to the best possible care in their local area. Like all RAMHP products, information presented on the website is evidence-based, developed with the Research Team of RAMHP’s lead organisation, the Centre for Rural and Remote Mental Health. We believe male suicide prevention needs to go well beyond getting men to talk, they need simple, actionable advice to keep themselves well and know how to get help when they need it. You Got This Mate was only launched in April, and already the website has gained significant traction, demonstrating the strong need for this tailored resource. You got this mate… and RAMHP’s here to help.
