The Health of Boys: Social determinants of boys' health and wellbeing, is a symposium is open to health workers, social workers, community workers, academics, researchers, teachers, relevant industries and the general community who have a driving interest in suicide prevention.
The speakers are Emeritus Professor Jan Mason from Western Sydney University and Dr Toby Fattore (Macquarie University).
Following their keynote addresses there will be morning circle sessions with
Tim Warton (Department of Communities and Justice): Psycho sexual development and identity development in a youth justice setting
Ben Joseph & Neil Hall (Western Sydney University): The role of sport for young males in transitions to adulthood
Marco Capobianco and Deyyan Jaffar (Conviction Group): Mental wellbeing and healthy relationships in young males
After lunch (included) there will be pinpoint messages with:
Martin Whitely (Curtin University): The over-prescription of ADHD
Melissa Abu-Gazaleh (Top Blokes): Innovative ways of working with boys and adolescents
Followed by an afternoon challenge session on continuing action strategies to promote the health & wellbeing of boys.
