The Fathering Project

The Fathering Project aims to inspire and equip fathers and father-figures to positively engage with the children in their lives – for the benefit of the kids.
We know that when fathers are engaged and equipped to be the best they can be – children's health and wellbeing can benefit hugely.

The Fathering Project is currently established in Western Australia, New South Wales and Victoria and has big plans for growth in coming months and years. We have recently received federal endorsement and funding for national expansion and hope to use this to reach as many dads and father-figures as possible with our core Dads Group program. We are aiming to have a total of 3,700 Groups established across Australia's states and territories within five years.

Dads Groups are the Project’s core activity. The groups provide a safe, inclusive and positive environment where father-figures can learn, share, grow and connect with each other, and their kids. The Fathering Project assists the establishment of these groups and provides support and resources for dads to have quality father-child engagement opportunities and share in important fathering discussion. We pride ourselves on our ability to gather and connect men, families and communities in positive ways.

The Fathering Project also delivers outcomes by supporting our Dads Group members and the wider fathering community with weekly tips, online resources, community and school presentations as well as through small and large-scale events.

Meanwhile, our research arm evaluates our programs and conducts research that looks more broadly into societal trends and issues that impact fatherhood. Dads Group program evaluation has found signifiant impacts on kids, and on father-figure's health (see information attached).
