ABC promotes programs for blokes on International Men’s Day

Australia national broadcaster, the ABC, has pulled together a collection of more than 20 programs to mark International Men’s Day (Friday 19 November 2021).

The programs are free to watch on ABC iview and include a focus on “celebrating the great role models that exist for boys and young men” as well as highlighting some of the challenges men face throughout life, information on healthy ageing and stories about men’s mental health.

Highlights of the collection include Jane Caro’s documentary on New Dads, an episode of Compass exploring a year-long rites of passage program for boys and Gus Worland’s seminal Man Up series.

Some of the male role models featured in the collection include actor and comedian Paul Hogan, guitar virtuoso Nathan Cavaleri and Archibald prize-winning artist, Vincent Fantauzzo.

A diversity of men’s stories are also included in the collection through short series like Your Mental Health Monologues, A Few Good Blokes and two episodes of You Can’t Ask That featuring ex-AFL players and recent war veterans.

The full collection of male-friendly programs can be found online at the ABC iview website or accessed via the iview App.
