How to celebrate International Men’s Day 2022

International Men’s Day (IMD) takes place on Saturday 19 November 2022. In Australia, the theme for International Men’s Day 2022 is “Celebrating Mateship”, which aims to inspire more men to #MakeTime4Mates.

This year will see a record number of International Men’s Day events being held in Australia, with more than 100 public activities listed on the www.internationalmensday.info website, hosted by the Australian Men’s Health Forum.

In addition, there will be dozens of events taking place that aren’t promoted on the IMD website, in particular events held in schools, workplaces and community settings across Australia, many of which make use of the free resources available on the IMD website

To find out if there’s an event near you that you can attend, take a look at theInternational Men’s Day events map. New events are being added every day so keep checking back for the latest information on events in your area.

3 ways to celebrate International Men’s Day

There are lots of different ways to get involved in International Men’s Day which is a great opportunity to take part in a global conversation about manhood, masculinity and men’s issues by highlighting some of the social issues that men and boys face, making a difference for the men and boys in your community, celebrating men and boys in all their diversity, and having some serious fun in the process.

If you’re not sure how to celebrate International Men’s Day, here are three key things you can do:

  1. Host and event in your workplace or community
  2. Attend one of the events listed on our website
  3. Share you support for IMD on social media

You can also embrace the International Men’s Day 2022 theme that aims to inspire more men to #MakeTime4Mates and build better social connections by:

  • Making time for old mates
  • Making time to make new mates
  • Reaching out to mates who are doing it tough

Celebrating groups supporting men

Finally, International Men’s Day is a great opportunity to celebrate the men’s health sector in Australia and in particular the many community-based men’s groups that provide opportunities year-round for men to make new mates, connect with old mates and be part of a community of “mates helping mates”.
