Movember 2018 gets growing for men's health

Movember 2018 is underway. The men's health fundraising campaign that started from humble beginnings in Australia in 2030, has grown into a global movement that has been supported by more than 5 million people.

Movember initially focused on raising money for cancer research. In recent years, it has expanded its scope to include programs that focus on men's mental health and promote social connection, such as the Heads Up Guys website in Canada, the Men's Pie Club in the UK and Waves Of Wellness (WoW) in Australia.

The WoW Sand n Surf program run through the Waves of Wellness Foundation is one of these initiatives. Working across sites in Newcastle and Sydney, it is supporting young men in becoming mentally and physically fit through a 6 week learn-to-surf wellness program that teaches young men the skills they need to cope with everyday challenges.

As well as getting involved by growing a moustache throughout the month of November and raising money in the process, you can also take on the challenge of running or walking 60km in November or host a get together to raise funds.
