Keep a national voice for men's and boys' health

We call on the Australian Government to provide ongoing funding for a national men's health peak body beyond 30 June 2027, so that Australia's National Men's Health Strategy has a sector voice to help deliver it.

The Australian Men's Health Forum is the only national peak body for men's health funded under the Australian Government's Health Peak and Advisory Bodies Program. That funding ends on 30 June 2027, and no men's health peak was selected in the latest funding round.

Without a peak, there is no single national voice bringing together the hundreds of organisations, services and community groups working to improve the health of men and boys. Australia has a National Men's Health Strategy and a Special Envoy for Men's Health. The sector that delivers that work needs a seat at the table too.

Our 4-Year Plan (2027–2031)

With ongoing funding, over the next four years we will:

  1. Be one voice for the sector. Bring member insight from across the country straight to government, so policy reflects what services and communities are actually seeing.
  2. Connect national to local. Convene members in each state and territory, linking local providers with state and national decision-makers.
  3. Bring the sector together around shared themes. Run communities of practice across the key areas of men's and boys' health, so organisations can share what works, solve common problems and learn from each other.
  4. Measure what matters. Develop a shared outcomes measurement tool, so organisations of every size can show the difference they make.
  5. Lift quality. Create a voluntary endorsement standard that helps men, families and referrers find services designed with men in mind.
  6. Strengthen the workforce. Support the people doing this work through training, supervision and wellbeing resources, and through reconnecting the sector at the National Men's Health Gathering.
  7. Build the evidence. Explore partnerships with universities so research is shaped by the sector and put to use on the ground.
  8. Grow and diversify. Grow our membership from around 120 to more than 300 organisations, and reduce our reliance on government funding by building partnerships and philanthropic support.
