The Fathering Project has launched an Australia-wide Father’s Day Weekend fund-raiser to support children’s mental health.
The campaign invites people to walk, run or move however they choose across the 2025 Father’s Day weekend, from 6-7 September.
The Fathering Project is hoping Step Up For Kids highlights the powerful role fathers and father figures play in building emotionally resilient, confident and connected kids.
“Right now, half a million children in Australia aged 4 to 14 are experiencing mental health challenges - and many aren't getting the support they need,” says the Fathering Project.
“The presence of a caring, engaged father or father figure can make a world of difference. It helps build a child’s sense of safety, confidence, and emotional strength.
“Step Up For Kids is about those small, intentional moments that make a big impact. A walk. A chat. A shared laugh. Because when dads step up for their own wellbeing, they step up for their kids too.”
While Step Up For Kids is a national campaign, key locations in Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne and Perth have been featured on the campaign website to encourage people to join organised Park Runs and community events.
