The Australian Institute of Landscape Architects is holding a free webinar on Thursday July 21 on how public spaces can be designed to create the opportunity for connection and how well designed projects can improve the health and wellbeing of the local community through engaging social spaces.
Invited along to present is the founder of Mr Perfect, Terry Cornick, who "holds an appreciation for the effects spaces can have on our moods". Terry's men's health organisation brings men together at barbecue locations across Australia each week to chew the fat, but he also has a day job in health care.
Also speaking is Jason Cuffe, who leads the AILA team in Sydney. He brings a variety of experience on small to large-scale projects and his passion for creating places for people is enhanced through his collaborative and enthusiastic approach to design.
The session will include:
- Project case study
- Examples of mentally-friendly spaces
- Benefits of incorporating public barbecues
- Introduction to social barbecues community organisation - Mr Perfect
- How Mr Perfect uses these spaces for community building
The main presentation will be followed by a Q&A session with our two presenters.
The webinar is free. Register
