Aussie surf legend jumps on board for Men’s Health Week

Australian surfing legend, Mark 'Occy' Occhilupo, will be co-hosting a series of 'Conversations that Matter' events with our friends at Blokepedia during Men's Health Week (14-20 June 2021) this year.

The former world surfing champion will join Dr Clive Williams for the latest round of Blokepedia's popular men's health discussions across three locations: Brisbane, Gold Coast and Port Macquarie.

According to Blokepedia, Occy's story is one of sports greatest ever comebacks. Ranked third in the world at 17, Occy was set to sweep all before him with his sensational brand of surfing. A spiralling descent into drug abuse and depression cut his journey short prematurely when he quit the pro tour at just 22.

After years spent immobile and overweight on the couch, Occy eventually emerged ready to tackle a whole new generation of surf stars. His comeback capped off with his world title win in 1999.

Occy and Clive will be joined for the roadshow by high performance and leadership coach, Anthony Seibold, and Australian comedian Vince Sorrenti.
Men's Health Week is run every year by our friends at the Men’s Health Information and Resource Centre (MHIRC) at Western Sydney University and takes place in communities all over Australia, thanks to teams of people who create local events with a focus on improving the lives and health of men and boys.

It is co-ordinated through international partnerships with men's health organisations across the world, particularly in Europe and North America. Participating countries include the United States, UK, Ireland, New Zealand, Germany, Austria, Denmark and the Netherlands.
