Men, Mates and Mentors showcasing men’s services on the Gold Coast
Men’s organisation - Men, Mates and Mentors – is raising awareness about a range of peer support groups and services for men in the Gold Coast area.
The objective of MM&M is to encourage men facing overwhelming challenges to safely engage with others by introducing them to these groups, services and activities where they are likely to be inspired by other men with lived experience.
At a free event on 28th February in Robina, MM&M will showcase different men’s groups operating in the area including Complete Men, Dads in Distress, Mens Wellbeing, The Men’s Table and The Mankind Project Australia.
People attending will hear real stories from men and their partners about journeys from isolation to connection and growth. They will also learn how peer support groups and services are changing lives and how participants can be part of this movement.
Titled ‘Help Us Help Gold Coast Men: A Showcase of Men’s Groups’ the event welcomes anyone to attend “who believes in the power of connection and wants to support a positive shift in their community. Media, referrers, women, and the general public are all welcome.”
The showcase, running from 6pm-7.30pm AEST at the Robina Community Centre Auditorium, is perfect for:
- Individuals looking to support men’s mental health and well-being.
- Media and community leaders interested in amplifying the message.
- Families, friends, and referrers wanting to learn more about available support services.
On Saturday, 22nd March, MM&M’s daylong event in Upper Coomera, is hosted by the same organisations taking part in the February Showcase.
Men, Mates & Mentor’s Day will include 6-8 one-hour workshops led by experienced facilitators, inspirational talks, a catered lunch and an opportunity to connect with other men.
Also free, this event is for men who may be facing isolation, grief, or other overwhelming life experiences.
“By introducing attendees to peer support groups and showcasing inspiring stories of resilience, Men, Mates & Mentors Day creates a welcoming space to connect and explore what's possible,” say the organisers.
Men, Mates & Mentors Day will run from 10am-3pm at The Function Centre, 58 Highland Way Upper Coomera.
MM&M has compiled a directory of free low-cost groups, activities, services, and programs for Gold Coast Men “wishing to grow, connect or deal with challenges like mental health, separation, blended families, legal, isolation and loneliness.”
If you have a group or service that could be relevant to Gold Coast Men, listings are free of charge and can be arranged by completing a form on this web page.
