Men wanted: tell us your story

The Australian Men's Health Forum is looking for men who want to share their personal experiences of physical, mental or social health challenges.

Have you taken on a health challenge, like battling with your weight or dealing with a cancer diagnosis? Maybe you've struggled with mental health issues. Or perhaps you faced a social challenge that impacted your wellbeing, like a relationship breakup, a housing crisis or dealing with debt?

Telling your story could make a difference for others and help us to raise the profile of men's health in Australia. We’ve got all the statistics to prove that men and boys need more support. However personal stories have the potential power to inspire, educate, and engage decision makers, leaders and others.

There are lots of different ways your personal experience could help. You could be part of a research project; be interviewed for a news feature; feature in a policy report; take part in a consultation or focus group; speak at an event or get training to give you the skills and confidence you need to share your story with others in a meaningful way.

At this stage, we're looking for Expressions of Interest from men of all backgrounds and the information you provide will be treated respectfully and confidentially.

To let us know you're interested in getting involved simply fill out this short online form today.

We are interested in hearing stories that cover a wide range of topics related to health challenges, including but not limited to:

1. Physical health challenges, the support you received or didn’t receive from health providers, community services or even mates to assist in your recovery journey.
2. Navigating and overcoming mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, addiction, or any other condition.
3. Confronting other social barriers: such as getting support as a new dad, relationship challenges, getting a job or an education
4. Dealing with abuse, discrimination and disadvantage in your family, community or workplace

Your story matters, and we are committed to providing a safe and inclusive process for men to share their experiences. Your identity can be kept confidential if you prefer, and we will respect your privacy at all times.

Your story will never be shared without your express permission and you will be given the opportunity to opt-in or opt-out at any time as different opportunities arise.

To find out more, get in touch today and give us a brief indication of the experience you want to share with others. Use this online form to let us know you're interested in telling your story.
