Movember's Know Thy Nuts campaign targets young men
Testicular cancer is the No.1 cancer in young men, but is highly curable when caught early.
Using a swinging pear to increase awareness about testicular cancer - and what to look out for - Movember's latest health campaign launched in April during Testicular Awareness Month.
The 'Know Your Nuts' campaign focuses on three quick steps men can take to check for lumps, bumps and aches while taking a hot shower.
It shows them what to look out for and when they might go and see a doctor for follow-ups.
"Testicular Cancer Awareness Month is about taking control of your health. The simplest action that young men can take is to get to know their nuts. That way, if they notice any changes over time, they can get it checked by a doctor. When caught early, testicular cancer is highly treatable," said Professor Simon Rice, Global Director of the Movember Institute of Men's Health.
A Movember survey found that 84% of men who visited its ‘Know Thy Nuts’ site felt confident in knowing how to perform self-checks afterwards – a simple step that could save lives.
Around 960 people are diagnosed with testicular cancer each year. Testicular cancer has the highest survival rates of any cancer (other than common skin cancers). Regular monitoring is a major factor in ensuring good outcomes, so it's vital that you attend all your follow-up appointments.
