National Men’s Health Gathering returns in 2025
The National Men’s Health Gathering will make a highly anticipated return in October 2025, celebrating its 30th anniversary at the iconic Brisbane Showgrounds.
This significant event marks the first in-person national conference for men’s health since the COVID-19 pandemic when the event was successfully hosted online through Men’s Health Connected.
Proudly organised by the Australian Men’s Health Forum (AMHF), the Gathering will unite a broad range of stakeholders in men’s health, including policymakers, academics, healthcare professionals, and representatives from community and voluntary sectors. With a shared commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of men and boys across Australia, the 2025 Gathering will be a vital platform for collaboration, innovation, and action.
The event combines two flagship components:
- The National Men’s Health Gathering - a core platform addressing the key health and social issues affecting men and boys in Australia.
- The 10th Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Male Health Convention - an essential forum that highlights health challenges and solutions for Indigenous males, fostering cultural understanding and targeted strategies.
A Milestone Moment
The first National Men’s Health Gathering was held in Melbourne in 1995, making the 2025 event a true milestone for AMHF and the broader men’s health sector. Over the last three decades, the Gathering has become a cornerstone for raising awareness and driving change around men’s health issues.
“I am delighted to invite you to work with us in making this landmark 30th anniversary Gathering a huge success,” said AMHF President, Gillian Hunt. “The need to focus on the health and wellbeing of men and boys in Australia is as vital as it has ever been.
“We all know that men continue to live shorter lives than women on average, with 50 Australian men a day dying from avoidable causes.
“Tackling the health and social issues that men and boys face requires a whole-of-society approach, which is why this Gathering brings together policymakers, academics, health and social professions and representatives of the voluntary and community sector, with a shared commitment to improving the lives and health of men and boys.”
Why the Gathering Matters
The National Men’s Health Gathering is unique in its ability to bring together diverse voices and organisations working to support men and boys. The Gathering provides opportunities to:
- Share ground-breaking research, initiatives, and strategies.
- Foster collaboration between health professionals, community groups, and policymakers.
- Highlight the importance of culturally sensitive health solutions, particularly for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men.
With the health sector, community leaders, and advocates converging in Brisbane, the 2025 Gathering promises to inspire action and foster solutions that will create meaningful change.
Partnering for Impact
With the Gathering set to attract over 250 delegates, sponsors and partners are invited to play an integral role.
The Gathering explores research and best practice in men and boys’ physical, mental and social health, with a particular focus on men’s mental health, male suicide prevention, fatherhood, family relationships, men’s social connections and work with priority populations of men including younger men, older men and First Nations men and boys.
The program will include three days of keynote and concurrent sessions, with social opportunities including a welcome reception and the Gathering dinner.
By partnering in the 30th-anniversary Gathering, organisations will contribute to an initiative that seeks to save lives and improve outcomes for Australian men and boys.
