Planning underway for International Men’s Day 2021
International Men’s Day 2021 is four weeks away and events are in full swing to celebrate men and boys in all their diversity around the globe.
In Australia, some major activities have been planned from Mt Isa in Queensland to Darwin, NT.
Nominations are being sought for the inaugural Mt Isa International Men’s Day Dinner, established to recognise local male role models. The three categories that will be celebrated on the night of November 19 at the Buchanan Park Events Complex are for the Mount Isa Man of Achievement, the Mount Isa Local Hero and the Mount Isa Youth Leader.

Down south in Melbourne, White Owl for men's health awareness is celebrating the end of lockdown with an evening of socialising in good company at the Bells Hotel in South Melbourne. Former AFL footballer Simon Madden will be a special guest alongside George Donikian, the so-called ‘face of multiculturalism.’
The first International Men’s Day Forum at Doubletree by Hilton Darwin was a big success in 2020 and this year it returns highlighting a range of topics relating to employment, family violence, men's health, suicide prevention and the state of the Territory under the theme, ‘Men Leading by Example.’

Top Blokes Foundation, whose work focuses on promoting the health and wellbeing of younger males, is running a webinar on the ‘realities of pornography’.
“Recent media attention on sexual assaults in schools and workplaces across Australia raises important questions about how young people learn about sex, consent and healthy relationships,” says Top Blokes.
“Pornography is playing an increasingly influential role in shaping beliefs, expectations and desires of young people, with research indicating that most have viewed pornography by the age of 15.”
This webinar will help give participants the skills and knowledge to have better conversations about pornography with their son.
Venue114 in Bokarina, Qld, is launching In Conversation - Movember with the objective to change the face of men’s wellbeing and build awareness around mental health and suicide prevention whilst addressing some of the biggest health issues faced by men: prostate and testicular cancer.
Sunshine Coast radio presenter Sam Coward, Hot 91, will MC an open and honest conversation with local mental health advocates Leon Stensholm, Body By Leon and Sam Parker, Grab Life By The Balls, as they share their own personal experiences with mental health and suicidality.
The event starts at 4pm and tickets are $39, with a burger, frees and one beverage included in admission.
