Regional Men’s Health Initiative receives $3.5m funding across 4 years
The Regional Men’s Health Initiative has been awarded additional $3.5m for 2024-2028 by the Cook Labor government.
The Hon Kyle McGinn MLC announced the on-going funding at the organisation’s Warrior Ambassador Awards on Friday 25th October, where six new inductees were acknowledged under the fundraising category.
They were: 2 Wheels to Wagin, Komatsu – Live your Dream Program (Tom Price), Shire of Westonia, Seven Beards Bro’s for Men’s Health (Corrigin), Harding Lodge No. 9 (Karratha) and Elders WA.
The Warrior Ambassador Awards has three broad categories:
1. Fundraising - make a financial contribution with no expectation of personal or commercial gain or return.
2. Personal Stories - share an experience with the wider community to assist WMH reach and communicate with its audience and achieve its vision and objectives.
3. Open - have provided a significant contribution to WMH through other means than the above two categories with no expectation of personal or commercial gain or return.
Australian Men’s Health Forum CEO Glen Poole was a guest speaker at the celebration, outlining AMHF’s role as the peak body for men’s health in Australia and its work to improve the lives and wellbeing of men and boys.
Wheatbelt Men’s Health Inc. (WMH) was formed in 2002 and is a not-for-profit organisation that delivers “The Regional Men’s Health Initiative’(RMHI). Its vision is “to empower men and communities to take responsibility for their wellbeing and health.”
The Warrior Ambassador Awards were established in 2013 and acknowledges individuals, and/or organisations who have supported WMH. They aim to:
- Acknowledge the wide range of contributors.
- Develop and foster relations with past and present individuals and/or organisations.
- Establish a network of champions for the cause to further promote regional men’s wellbeing and health in regional, rural, and remote WA.
The slogan “...before it all gets too much…Talk to a Mate!!®” is the basis of all its initiatives.
