Registrations open for 2024 Australian Fatherhood Research Symposium

Milton Kotelchuck PhD MPH has been named as the first keynote speaker at the 2024 Australian Fatherhood Research Symposium.

A Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, he will open the Symposium on the subject: Engaged Fatherhood for Men, Families and Gender Equality: Advances in Research, Practice and Policy.

Early registrations are now open for the Symposium, which runs from 16-17th May 2024 at Deakin Downtown in Melbourne and online via zoom.

The symposium is an annual opportunity for researchers to build and consolidate collaborations with other researchers and practitioners who work with fathers. The event is co-hosted by Deakin University (Centre for Social and Early Emotional Development) and University of Newcastle (Family Action Centre). A range of disciplines are represented.

Organised by the Australian Fatherhood Research Consortium, keynote presentations and snapshot summaries showcase research and father-inclusive programs from around Australia.

The Australian Fatherhood Research Symposium 2024 is calling for Abstracts. Submissions close on Friday 1 December 2023.

Both researchers and those working for fathering organisations and non-profits are invited to submit abstracts summarising:

  • proposed or completed research,
  • applied programs or approaches.

Abstracts will be peer-reviewed, and those accepted will be shared by presenters at this year’s symposium.
