Work with men? Tell us your COVID stories!

The Australian Men’s Health Forum is undertaking research on the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the mental health and wellbeing of men and boys in Australia.

As part of this project we will be holding a series of online focus groups with practitioners and volunteers who work directly with men.

We’re keen to hear your insights on the different ways men and boys have coped with the uncertainty of the past two years, particular in relation to the their mental health.

Due to the focus of the work we’re particularly keen to hear from groups and individuals working with dads, younger men and older men. However, anyone working with men who has insights to share about the impacts of the pandemic on men’s mental health is welcome to participate.

The focus groups will take place throughout February and will last for 60 to 90 minutes. If you are interested in taking part please contact [email protected] with the words “Pandemic Response” in the subject line.

The first set of focus groups will be held next week covering the following areas:

Monday 31st January: People working with dads, older men and volunteers running grassroots men’s support groups.

Wednesday 2nd February: People working with younger men, rural and remote men and separated fathers.

If you are unable to take part in an online focus group for any reason but still wish to contribute your experience to the research in another way, please also get in touch.

The research is part of a project funded by the National Mental Health Commission that focuses on a number of priority populations including men and is due to be completed by the end of June 2022.
