In the run up to International Men's Day (IMD) the Australian Men's Health Forum has been highlighting 100+ groups around Australia doing great work to support men and boys.

Talk2MeBro run casual catch-ups and gatherings that bring people together to discuss mental health, share experiences, and build connections around activities like beach meditation, breath work, ice baths, ocean plunges and gym meets. Formed in Wollongong with groups now available in Sydney, Newcastle, Central Coast and Southern Highlands, Talk2MeBro has a particular focus on men, but also run sessions for women and combined meet-ups open to everyone.
Tasmen (The Tasmanian Men's Health and Wellbeing Association) was formed in 1999 to provide support and transformative experiences for men and emerged out of first Tasmanian Men's Gathering (TMG) in 1998. TasMen continues to hold its annual Men’s Gathering as well as workshops, events and email discussion groups, and has around a dozen affiliated men's circles and men's social groups around Tasmania.
The Amend Project is a community-led initiative that aims to create safer spaces for men and boys to talk openly and access support before crisis point. Currently, The Amend Project runs “Wellbeing Rounds” with sporting clubs across Central West NSW. Established by Lewis Bird, who has had a career in National Rugby League and the mental health sector, The Amend Project is working to create safer teams and safer communities with the aim of redefining what strength and belonging look like in sport and in life.
The Good Fight Gym in Brisbane is on a mission to improve men's mental health and wellbeing through combat sports like kickboxing, MMA and boxing. Founded by Chris Hanlon, an Australian MMA representative who has traveled the world competing and coaching, Chris says The Good Fight "the gym is more than a training facility, it's a movement, designed to build warriors in both body and mind".
The Male Hug is an initiative that seeks to raise the awareness of men’s mental health and table stigma by promoting open dialogue by creating a safe and friendly and non-judgmental environment. Founded by Melbourne accountant and business advisor, Tony Rabah, one of The Male Hug's key initiatives is the Let’s Chat Buddy program giving men an opportunity to talk to a “Buddy” who will always be there when needed to listen without judgement.
The Man Cave is Australia’s leading preventive mental health charity for boys and young men. They have provided 100,000+ young men with impactful programs, positive male role models and accessible resources. The Man Cave’s Student Workshops are a series of whole-day immersive experiences that encourage participants to explore the concept of masculinity and to build healthier relationships with themselves and those around them.
The Man Cave Support Group is a charitable organisation dedicated to suicide prevention and awareness through fostering mateship and community support. They are committed to educating the public, raising funds, and organising events to build strong networks of support and resilience.
The Man Walk Founded by Mark Burns, The Man Walk is a no-pressure weekly opportunity to meet up with other men and appreciate local community, fuelled by dad jokes and coffee. It’s also a place where it’s OK for men to ask for help if needed and to support each other – walking a mile (or two) in their shoes. The Man Walk now takes place in more than 80 locations across Australia every week and has collectively taken 2,250,000,000+ steps – proudly in every state and territory, and continuing to expand internationally.
Gold Coast Men’s Walk and Talk - Since Gold Coast Men’s Walk and Talk was founded in 2019, they have helped countless individuals navigate through difficult times. They have created mateship where people can find the support they need through the power of connection. Members provide the place and space for personal growth, self-reflection, learning, and bonding.
The Men's Table
In 2011 a group of men decided to have dinner with the intention of having a place to connect with other men, and talk about the highs and lows of their lives. They’ve been meeting once a month ever since to talk, laugh and share what’s going on for them. The Men's Table organisation has since facilitated men's tables across Australia, building meaningful social connection and protective factors for men’s wellbeing.
