National Men's Health Policy Update

Work on developing a new National Male Health Strategy is now underway, with public consultations expected to take place in late 2018/early 2019. The Federal Health Minister, Greg Hunt, hosted a National Male Health Forum at Parliament House in Canberra in August, to kick start discussions on the strategy.

Further discussions will take place at the National Men’s Health Gathering in November and a public consultation process will be launched later this year.

Plans for the strategy were announced during Men's Health Week when Mr Hunt said:

"Australian men and boys are vital to the health and happiness of their families and communities, but need to pay more attention to their own mental and physical wellbeing.

The National Male Health Strategy builds on and complements the National Women’s Health Strategy 2020 to 2030, which was announced at the National Women's Health Summit in February.

The strategy will aim to identify what is required to improve men and boys’ health outcomes and provide a framework for taking action.
