5 online events to attend during Men’s Health Week

It’s Men’s Health Week from Monday 15 June to Sunday 21 June, and this year because of COVID-19 there will be fewer events in the “real world” but more online events than ever before.

This means you can support Men’s Health Week from the comfort of your own smart phone or computer -  and we’ve got five top recommendations to keep you involved throughout the week.

 

Monday: Tune In To Men’s Health TV

Men’s Health TV launches on Monday 15 June making it easy for men to access some great talks and conversations from their homes and workplaces. Men’s Health TV will broadcast live on Facebook throughout the week and feature a range of programs including the Blokes’ Health Lunchbox at 12 noon AEST.

Tuesday: Find Out About New Directions In Male Suicide Prevention

Suicide Prevention Australia is hosting a webinar on male suicide prevention during Men’s Health Week as part of its Connect 2020 webinar series. Speakers include Dr Zac Seidler and Brendan Maher of Movember, Professor Frances Kay-Lambkin and Marc Bryant of the sponsors LivingWorks Australia.  The panel will ask “what is the evidence to inform our practice in the prevention of male suicide?”

Wednesday: Have a Conversation That Matters

Log on for a conversation about men that matters with Blokepedia on Wednesday 17 June at 7.30pm. Speakers including Dr. John Davis, psychologist Shane Senituli, NRL’s Joel Thompson and men’s health advocate and lived experience speaker, Justin Geange will chat about the important roles men play within their communities, and some of the health challenges they face. They’ll also uncover some and tools and strategies to improve our social, emotional and physical wellbeing.

Thursday: Find out how Mental Health and Body Health are linked

Healthy Male wants you to consider how body health affects your mental health and how mental health affects your body health. This is question will be explored  by a panel of speakers including Professor Suzanne Chambers, CEO of On the Line, Samantha Fredericks, Tom Bell of Tomorrow Man, comedian Machel Shafar and health coach Isaac Xavier.

Friday: Celebrate the Winners of the National Men’s Health Awards 2020

On Friday we’ll be announcing the winners of the National Men’s Health Awards at a live zoom event.

Join us to celebrate some of the great projects working to improve the lives and health of men and boys around Australia and find out who the winners of the 2020 National Men's Health Awards are in the following five categories:

  • Local Men's Health Hero Award 2020
  • Best Men's Lived Experience Speaker 2020
  • Best Men's Group or Program Award 2020
  • Women Working in Men’s Health Award
  • Significant Response to COVID-19
