Second round of Northern Territory grants open to support men’s health

The second round of grants to support men’s health and wellbeing in the Northern Territory opened on International Men’s Day as part of the Government’s on-going commitment to building stronger communities.

A total of $100k was announced in January to support men, foster gender equity and ensure safe and healthy families.

Local groups can apply for up to $10,000 to deliver programs that support men’s health and wellbeing.

Falling within the Department of Territory Families, Housing and Communities, applications opened on 19th November and close on 1 March 2024.

Grants will be used to support a range of activities including:

  • Information sessions

  • Skills development

  • Health and wellbeing programs

  • Education and peer-to-peer programs

  • Parenting programs and equipment

The grants are part of the Northern Territory Gender Equality Action Plan 2022-2025, which identifies five focus areas to reduce gender-based disadvantages and create opportunities for all Territorians.

One of the key actions is to improve the lives of Territory men such as promoting positive male role models, positive fathering and grandfathering.

The NT Government committed to developing a Men’s Places Policy in July, 2021, which has evolved with input from Men’s Sheds and Men’s Places, Men’s healing programs and strong men’s groups to understand how the Government can support the delivery of programs that aim to improve the lives of men in the Northern Territory.
